In South America, gauchos are able to roam the plains during the summer months with the help of an ancient iced tea-like beverage. The practice of consuming yerba mate on ice is known as Tereré. Utilizing the traditional gourd and bombilla, workers in the woods, the fields, and average people would stop throughout the day to be rejuvenated and vitalized by adding ice cold water to their mate infusions.

We've taken this this ancient herb and used it as our base. . . added some black tea and bits of dried fruit for a North American twist. . . and are making this refreshing blend available to our customers. Suggested Methods for Brewing:
Drip coffee maker for iced tea
Use 4 table spoons of mate and brew 12 cups (your brewer might be 10 cups), add 2-3 cups cold water, 1/4 cup sugar, chill and serve over ice with fresh cut lemon. This will make a semi-strong brew. Adjust amount of water and mate according to taste preferences.
French Press
Add two table spoons of mate, allow to steep for 5 minutes, add three 8 oz. cups of cold water to a larger container, 1/4 cup sugar, serve over ice with a fresh cut lemon
Iced tea brewer Espresso machine
Run 4 ounces of cool blends through espresso machine. Pour over glass filled with ice, top off with cold water. To make a mate splash, use any of the brewing processes above. Add one ounce of your latte flavor of choice: kiwi, orange, raspberry, strawberry, and/or vanilla. This is a wonderful way to enjoy a flavored iced tea with minimal sugar!
