July Update - A Short Note From The Desk of Dan...

Greetings,

I'm happy to report that I have in my hands the keys to our new facility in Denver! The trucks will arrive today, we'll get the warehouse and shipping area set up over the next fews days, and then we'll resume shipping on Monday! And for all of you who have been waiting patiently for the Argentine Organic, we now have that product onsite as well. We will be sending out emails soon to the folks who placed reservations.

So, if you're running low on mate, now would be a good time to place your orders and reserve your spot in line as we have a few backorders to process, as well as many Argentine Organic reservations. We'll be going down the list in dated order.

Be sure to check out the 2 new articles we recently came across. Abstracts are below, with links to the full article.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Mate Tea— South America's Elixir of Life by Johann Fleck
abstract from article:

Throughout South America, the indigenous peoples are closely linked by the mate tradition, as evidenced in writings such as "The Incas' Green Gold," or by its reverential subtitle, "Drink of the Gods." According to legend, about 1,000 years ago, a god handed the Guarani Indians the plant, with instructions for brewing the leaves into tea. Since then, the drink mate has been an indispensable part of daily life for millions of South Americans. In several regions, people drink copious quantities of this beverage any time of day. Field workers drink the brew to ward off heat and exhaustion. People who engage in lengthy, round-table discussions like it for its mentally stimulating properties, claiming it can induce inspiration, while creating a relaxed state.

Dietitian likes yerba mate tea's antioxidant content by Kim Pierce
abstract from article:

When oncology dietitian Deana Cox touted the benefits of tea recently for cancer patients at Baylor Sammons Cancer Center, she ended by recommending a tea that's technically not tea.

Although cancer-fighting data is limited, she says, tea made from the leaves of the South American yerba mate tree (pronounced MAH-tay) is even richer in antioxidants than teas made from the Camellia sinensis plant. True teas made with the leaves of the Camellia sinensis species are considered high in antioxidants.

Ms. Cox likes yerba mate's antioxidant power and its earthy flavor. "It's my favorite," she says. "I'm a huge tea fan. I drink it every day."
