Spring has finally hit the Northern Rocky Mountains and not one day soon enough for me. Flowers are starting to show and trees are starting to bud. It always amazes me the process of turning the winter grey into all the wonderful colors nature has to offer. This spring also holds some wonderful colors and growing pains for Aviva. For starters, we are moving the Aviva corporate offices to Monroe, WA. Monroe is about 40 minutes northeast of Seattle. This move will give us the ability to focus on something close to home— roughly six million people between Seattle and Vancouver B.C.! After I sold my coffee roasting business in 2002, I took a 45-day tour through California. This was a mixture of business and pleasure. I had an employee who contacted coffee houses in college towns and made appointments for me. I did roughly 78 demonstrations on that trip and was very successful in generating interest and future business. Sandpoint, ID is a wonderful place to live, but difficult to make a living when most of one's potential accounts are located either in or around large metropolitan areas. This move to Monroe will help us to better target and serve our customer base up and down the west coast. What does this mean for our Internet customers around the country? Relatively nothing, unless you live in the greater Seattle area. If you live in the Greater Seattle area or are traveling to the Seattle area, this move will open your eyes to our new retail beverage concept. Yes, in our new location, I am excited to announce we are going back into the retail beverage industry. We are not calling it a coffee house or a tea room. It is beyond those classifications. Our new store will have a coffee bar, a yerba mate & tea bar, and a juice & smoothie bar. Our focus will be on energy and wellness. Our goal is to provide Sustainable Energy without false hopes associated with mega amounts of caffeine and mega amounts of sugar. We strongly believe this is beyond a coffee house concept. In addition to these wonderful beverages, one will be able to enjoy food made with the freshest organic ingredients. We will also be offering baked goods that will include gluten free and allergen free products from Nameste Foods. For people that have allergies and can't eat certain foods, we hope this will be a very attractive menu item! This is the first store of many more to come. Our plan is for this to be a template for multiple locations. So, keep an eye open in your neighborhood, or if you see a location that might work well for such a concept, then please let us know! This retail location will also act as a training center for retailers around the country to visit and learn how to incorporate our program into their operations. Spring has sprung. It's time to clean those yards and wipe the dust from the windows. Don't forget to enjoy some cold yerba mate beverages while doing your Spring cleaning. Below is one of my favorite recipes... Brew three tablespoons of yerba mate through a standard pour over coffee pot or French press. Transfer to a container to place in the fridge until cool. Take one half medium size lemon and squeeze into container, add sweetener if needed. I use Stevia. Serve with lemon wedge and fresh peppermint or spearmint leaf. I think you will find this very refreshing!
