Greetings, As many of you know, we periodically send out surveys to check the pulse of our customers. Among other things, we want to know what folks are drinking, what they are using to sweeten their beverages, and how they are currently brewing their yerba mate. Over the years, I think we have generated about half a dozen surveys like this. The overwhelming feedback we receive in regard to suggestions for new product offerings is that our customers would like to see us carry other natural tea offerings (Camellia Sinensis - ie. Black, Green, White teas).
With that said, I am proud and excited to announce that starting today we will be selling a line of tea called Teatulia. I have spent the last 17 years making my living from my taste buds. Teatulia is one of the best tasting teas I have come across. Teatulia tea has a smooth flavor and a crisp finish with very little tannins. To start with, we will be offering three of their wonderful teas— Black, Green and White. We will offer these varieties in state-of-the-art recyclable pyramid bags and in loose format sold by the ounce. What is important about this style bag is that it allows Teatulia to pack loose leaf tea in a tea bag. Because these teas are from the Camellia genus, it is imperative the leaf be allowed to unfurl (unlike our yerba mate, where it is only important for the yerba to simply steep). Our yerba mate is not a whole leaf product and the curing process does not provide a curled up leaf. When the tea leaf is allowed to unfurl in your cup, you are assured that you are receiving the maximum nutritional benefit from your drink. Along with great tasting tea, Teatulia has additional traits that are very important to us as well. Beyond the fact that Teatulia is the only company that has the rare opportunity of importing tea from Bangladesh, they are both certified organic and they employ a direct trade relationship with the Teatulia tea gardens. This relationship allows them to apply their social economic direct trade program with the workers and their families who work and live on the estate in Bangladesh. What does direct trade mean? It means that the workers are paid more than a fair wage. It means there is no middleman taking valuable funds to administer an international program. It means more resources are available to empower and better the lives of the people who work in the tea gardens. Please join us in welcoming Tetulia Tea to the Aviva family. Drink And Be Well! On another note— March Special Update... we're out of the 50ct Chai, and other flavors are getting very low.
